Last year the Lions Club of Carlyle enjoyed spending lunch with the students of Carlyle Elementary School and decided to spend lunch with the youth again this year.

On Friday, April 4, five Lions members attended the school. The Lions Club sponsored the students' lunches to participate in the Lions World Lunch Relay.

A fun way to bring people together around the world the Lions Lunch Relay was a 24-hour event where Lions Clubs were encouraged to celebrate their successes in the community while sharing a meal with each other.

The first clubs to participate were those in New Zealand. This then followed time zones around the world, reaching noon in Carlyle with excited youth enjoying a roast beef meal.

The Lions, including Kent and Myrla Holland, Jay Hurr, as well as George and Pat Anderson, spoke a little bit about what the club does in Carlyle and the surrounding community as well as right in the school.

Altogether, the group then learned one of the Lions International songs, which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
