Some of you may have heard of Richy Roy, the man with the Emergency Magical Service, but for those who haven't it's time to change that.

Richy Roy is currently on a southeast regional library tour stopping at just about every town along the way. The Carlyle library hosted this event Thursday, July 12 at 1 p.m.

As children awaited the CFY group to arrive from camp, they lay on the floor doing a breathing exercise. Richy Roy had them put their arms in the air over their heads and count backwards from 10, while nothing happened. He then instructed them to lower their hands slowly to their sides by counting backwards from 20; this resulted in several kids feeling like their hands were pushing through the floors of the library.

The official show started with a magic rings trick, as the talented magician tossed them around connecting and disconnecting them in the air, around his body and in front of his eager audience.

"This is the only day you can be loud in the library," he insisted, after the hard to please children's audience seemed less than impressed.

His show quickly began to gain better reactions when he jokingly taught an adult library worker to become a magician and balloon artist, but that wasn't even the top act. Roy wowed the young kids when he made a girl from the audience his assistant for a few minutes and made her float above some chairs with a balloon. Many children asked how this was done, but like a good magician, Roy never reveals his secrets.

Each kid left with an amazing balloon animal or artistic piece as the show filled with many amazing musical selections, including the popular hit "Move It" from Madagascar, which became a sing along, came to an end.

Not only is Richy Roy a magician, but he is also an escape artist, balloon twister, comedian, and music DJ. He travels all over western Canada performing, and bringing his gifts and talents to audiences of all ages.

On his spare time, which he admits he has little of, this magician is also an EMS technician and father of two young children.

Although he loves doing all of these things, magic seems to be his dream, and he will continue to follow it to the end.
