ESTEVAN - Zachary Lewis has been convicted of three charges, stemming from an incident that occurred in Estevan last November.
Lewis was found guilty Monday in Estevan Provincial Court of assault with a weapon and using an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence. He was found not guilty of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
A trial was held for Lewis in May. The judge presiding over the cause adjourned it to July 7 for a decision. That decision was then pushed back to Monday.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 25 in Estevan.
Lewis was charged in November 2022 following the incident, which shut down part of downtown Estevan.
At the time, the EPS said two males were taken into custody and one was subsequently released without charges. The second male was held in custody while the investigation continued into the offences.
The 1200 blocks of Fourth Street and Fifth Street were closed and barricaded for a time due to the incident.
After the incident, Lewis was charged with pointing a firearm and uttering threats under the Criminal Code.
