A group of volunteers have made initial steps to have a follow up to the Carlyle & District History book, "Prairie Trails to Blacktop". We are looking for a title for our new book & the person who suggests the title that is chosen will receive a free book.

This is your chance to become a part of recorded history for this community. A deadline for submissions is Sept. 1st 2011. Assembly & printing will follow & hopefully books will be available mid to late 2012. You can reserve a book & assist with cost by prepaying $60.00.

Are you asking, "where do I start"? This is a sample of one history received:

'Brady, Dale Bruce (August 1945) son of Joseph Brady (1916-1995) & Adeline Bruce (1914-2005) married Lynn Clark, (July 1945) daughter of Lawrence Clark, (1913-1988) & Patricia Aldridge, (1917-1995). They were both born at a small birth centre in Carlyle, operated by Lydia Evans, an English midwife. World War 2 was just over. Until age 10, Dale lived on a farm S.E. of Wordsworth & went to Greenhill School. In 1955, the family moved to the original Brady farm in the foothills of the Moose Mountains. Lynn grew up on the homestead of her grandfather, Arthur Clark, near the Glen Morris Cemetery & went to school at Carlyle except for 2 yrs. at Mountain Valley School. They met in high school & were married April 1st. 1967 in the Anglican Church in Carlyle, now a Heritage site!!'.

This introduction is followed by the history of their work life & their children.

"Where will I send the history; personal, business or service group?" To [email protected]; Box 2013, Carlyle, Sk. or drop it off at the Town Office.

"What if I have a new business or have only lived here a short time?" You are definitely a part of Carlyle's history.Submit your history ASAP.
