“The Salvation Army is one of my favourite programs to support,” said Mondor. “They do so much this time of year, like the Christmas hamper donations and the meals that they serve, and it just really impresses me.”
“A donation like this one means a great deal to us. All funds raised in Weyburn during the Christmas campaign, and all year round, stay in Weyburn. We have had a very big increase in clients, it definitely helps to fill our shelves with food,” said Shannon Fodchuk, Community Ministry Worker with the Salvation Army Weyburnβ.
Any residents, businesses or organizations are welcome to drop off non-perishable food donations right at the Weyburn Salvation Army, located on the corner of Railway Avenue and Fourth Street.
“We will take donations all year round, but it is especially needed during the Christmas season,” said Fodchuk. “Gift cards go a long way, as a donation. We use those to pick up our daily supplies, like milk and bread, or fruit and vegetables.”
Volunteers to man the kettles are welcome to contact the Salvation Army. Kettles will be located in Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire and Wholesale Club from December 2 to 24. They are booking two-hour time slots at each location. All volunteers will need proof of full vaccination.
The kettle two-hour time slots will be on Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Anyone who would like to be a part of the Christmas kettles this year can contact Shannon or Tania at 306-842-2280.
