The First Annual Helen Needham Memorial Run hosted by friends and family was a success despite somewhat uncooperative weather; the cool and rainy weekend couldn’t keep people away.
The event was held at the Manor Rodeo Grounds on Friday, Sept. 15, in the evening and on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Friday saw a DJ and camping at the Rodeo Grounds with a poker run at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning. A $15 entry fee to the poker run was collected which allowed entry for door prizes and a chance to win 50 percent of the payout. Gate fee into the event was $10.
That afternoon bike games were held, while the DJ played again that evening.
All proceeds made from the event are to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.
Helen Needham, a resident of Manor, passed away unexpectedly April of 2016 in a car accident. As a way to celebrate her life and memory the memorial run was planned in her honour as motorcycle rallies and riding was a great love of hers.
