Severe weather passed through the Moose Mountain area on Aug. 4, dumping more than 65 millimetres of rain on the town of Carlyle in under 90 minutes.
Residents experienced ankle deep water flowing in the streets until the storm drains were able to catch up. The deluge provided good moisture for people’s gardens for the rest of the growing season, as the area had been experiencing hot temperatures the last several days.
There were some patches of hail but little visible crop damage as this should be enough moisture to complete the maturation of the area crops as they fill out. Tuesday’s playoff game in the Saskota Baseball League between the Carlyle Cardinals and visiting Kipling Royals was postponed and rescheduled for the following day due to the inclement weather.
Again on Aug. 7, severe weather pushed through the Moose Mountains, dumping 50 millimetres in Stoughton and 45 millimetres at Kenosee Lake.
