聽 聽 聽 聽 聽Phase II of the Government of Saskatchewan鈥檚 reopening began on Tuesday, May 19 and seen many local businesses in Carlyle open to serve customers.
Hair salons and barbershops in the area were ready to lower ears, under the new restrictions and guidelines they were given to operate under.
Levi Cullum at Big Daddy鈥檚 Barbershop has seen loads of home cuts, mom cuts and girlfriend cuts, so customers are very grateful for the reopening and Cullum is booked solid.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In accordance with government regulations, all clientele will be required to make appointments and will be allowed into the salons at the time of their appointments. All staff will be required to wear a mask and it is up to the salon if the customer is required to. Customers will be required to wait in their vehicles and the stylist will text or have a system for you to follow when it鈥檚 okay to enter the salon for your appointment.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Some of the salons needed to move chairs and reorganize their shops to provide adequate room for physical distancing guidelines.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Marsha McLean at Salon 206 referred to the changes as a 鈥渘ew beginning鈥, adhering to the changes at the salon to do business in the industry going forward.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Alicia Brown at New Dimension Hair Studio has taken to wearing scrubs, which she changes into upon arriving at work and then changing back to street clothes at the end of the day.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 All salons must practice deep cleaning methods, which means that they are required to wipe down between customers, as well as a host of other tasks. This will mean fewer appointment times available and some stylists have extended their hours to be able to accommodate the many people who are in need of a makeover.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Some stylists said that the days of double booking and even triple booking methods in the past to keep chairs filled, had to be scrapped to ensure that they could meet all guidelines to open.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Each salon will discuss when an appointment is made what the situation is when coming to the salon. For instance, New Dimension Hair Studio is relaying to customers that all haircuts include a shampoo to cut down the chance of any spread and to make it easier to keep the salon clean, which will better protect all workers and customers.聽
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Those customers buying hair care products will require the stylist to remove the item(s) from the shelves that you plan to purchase.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Also important is to show up on time and each salon has a guideline for cancelling if you can not make your appointment, with reduced number of times please be courteous, there is a lot of people wanting cuts.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 With the reduced number of appointment times, it has a definite affect on each stylist鈥檚 bottom line to generate the revenue they once operated with.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 As a customer, please remember that these people are open to serve the public and are now considered frontline workers. They can only do what the regulations allow and they are putting their health and safety on the line for people of this community and area, the same as the essential workers have been since the pandemic started.
