Grade 7/8 Group 3 brought in the most food and won the sub sandwich lunch. The Grade 12 class brought in the second most food and won ice cream treats. The Grade 10 class was third. They will also receive ice cream treats. Thank you to the local company that delivered the food to the food bank for us.

Also, a special thank-you goes to an anonymous donor who donated a huge load of food to be included with the school鈥檚 donation to the food bank. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

Thanks to the Student Leadership Team who managed to arrange COVID-friendly Christmas events and activities throughout December. There was a lot of laughter and though we couldn鈥檛 see them, there were a lot of smiles, too. The winners of the annual 鈥淜nock-Down Contest鈥 were Alyssa Bee, Kirsten East and Logan Romaniuk. They each won $20 gift certificates to local businesses.

This year, wellness in our school community is perhaps more important than ever.聽 As part of our trauma sensitive school Initiative, we are committed to staff and student wellness through self-care, mental health support and a shared sense of community. This includes implementing trauma sensitive teaching principles that help all students get ready to learn in a safe, predictable, and supportive learning environment.

Mental health is a priority in our school. Our COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan includes support for students鈥 mental health, while we practise physical safety. We use a variety of curricula, programs and presentations to encourage emotional wellness for all students.聽

Counselling support is available so students and their families can receive crisis assistance, referrals or general counselling related to learning needs. Supporting mental health in schools supports student learning.聽

To find out more about the mental health support available in school visit SECPSD.ca or contact us at 306-453-2500.
