It was great to see and talk to so many parents, guardians, and students on the Teams Online student-led conferences last week. Remember, if you ever have questions or concerns to discuss with your child’s particular teachers, please email the teacher or contact the school.
A new reporting system called EDSBY has been rolled out for parents to use in order to see students’ attendance and marks. Its purpose is to improve electronic communication between school and home. Contact the school if you haven’t received your password or are having problems logging onto the system at 306-453-2500.
Again this year the school will be collecting donations for the Carlyle and District Food Bank. Send your non-perishable food items to the school before Dec. 18. The classroom cohort with the most donations (per capita) will win a complete sandwich lunch made by sandwich artists. The second and third place classroom cohorts will win frozen treats. These prizes were kindly donated by local restaurants.
The school student leadership team is again promoting school spirit with the Twelve Days of Christmas. Themed activities started Dec. 1 with Ugly Christmas Sweater Day), and continued Dec. 2 (Snowflake Making Day), Dec. 3 (Toque Day), Dec. 4 (Gingerbread House Making Day), Dec. 8 (Red Elf Cheeks Day), Dec. 9 (Name that Holiday Tune Day), Dec. 10 (PJ Day), Dec. 11 (Christmas Spirit Clothing Day), Dec. 15 (Ornament Decorating Day), Dec. 16 (Holiday Movie Lines Day), Dec. 17 (Lumberjack Day – wear plaid), and Dec. 18 (Last Man Standing with prizes from local businesses).
Some of these activities will look a little bit different from previous years, as they will be over the intercom, in cohorts, etc., but they will still be a lot of fun.
The Christmas break begins Dec. 19. Students return to school on Jan. 4, 2021.
