GFK Cougar corner

The staff at GFK would like to recognize all the athletes and community coaches that put time and effort into being a member of “Cougar Athletics” this year.

To the athletes: Some of your sports started and finished, some started and did not finish, and others did not even start. Even though the COVID – 19 pandemic caused many unfortunate events to take place in the world, we as a staff wanted to “tip our hats” to you for all the effort you put in to the sport/ sports you love. Thanks for your passion for sports, whether that be a full season of practice and games and being crowned a champion, only being able to practice and have your season cut short, training for months only to have your season cancelled all together, or just loving sport and putting in the effort wherever need be. Unfortunately, there will be no athletic awards this year, but please know that all the hard work that was put in, season or not, did not go unnoticed and GFK athletics will once again be tearing up the walls of the GFK gymnasium in no time. THANK YOU ATHLETES!

To the community coaches: The GFK staff cannot thank you enough. Your time, effort, and relationships you build with our students, branches far beyond the walls of GFK. Your mentorship and guidance not only builds the skills of the sport you are coaching, but aids in the development of students becoming good people. Your time with our students is all voluntary, and is a choice you make strictly to help develop the kids in the sport you love. Once again, we cannot thank you enough. THANK YOU, COMMUNITY COACHES!

On-Line Supplementary Learning Opportunities

Though we didn’t get to share in their final months in high school and their graduation celebration, the staff wants the Class of 2020 to know how much they will be missed at GFK. This was a class of academics, athletes, leaders, volunteers, jokesters, and go-getters. They will be remembered for their fun loving attitudes and kind-hearted gestures. Class of 2020, congratulations on your graduation and on your many high school accomplishments related to studies, sports, and personal growth.  We wish you all the best as you leave high school behind and embark on new adventures.

Gordon F. Kells continues to provide supplemental learning. Classes from grades 7 to 12 remain open for students to do work on-line.  Face to face teaching on Microsoft Teams is available to all.
