Last week representatives from 12 different post-secondary institutes came to GFK and gave presentations to the grade 10-12 students. (University of Regina, University of Saskatchewan, SK Polytechnic (SIAST), Olds College, Mount Royal University (Calgary), Assiniboine College, Brandon University, Briercrest College, SK Apprenticeship Program, Minot State University, the Canadian Military, and Lethbridge University) The students had opportunities to ask questions and to meet one-on-one with these school advisors to find out more about the courses, costs, and pre-requisites related to their institutions. The institutions supplied calendars and information packages to interested students. It was a great day for students to find out more about many post-high school options.
The Student Leadership Team is running a "We Scare Hunger" campaign. Each student advisory group is challenged to bring in the most food donations for the Food Bank. Donations will be accepted until Oct. 31.
The SLT is also doing a Mom's Pantry Fundraiser. There goal is to raise $6000 for school activities.
The Sr. Boys Volleyball Team will be hosting a 1 day tournament on November 1st. Please come out and watch.
Rookie boys' and junior boys' volleyball continue practising Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:20. Senior boys' volleyball continue practising Tuesday evenings from 7-9 and Thursday mornings at 7:30.
The Science Club continues to meet one day a week after school.They are looking forward to National Science and Technology Week.
Mrs. Biberdorf has started up a Cosmetology Club. Last week a journeyperson met with the group to discuss what cosmetology is all about.
