The Rookie Girls had their home tournament on the weekend. Attending were our two teams, Oxbow, Manor, and two teams from Carnduff. Carlyle 2 defeated the Carnduff grade 8 /9 team in the final. Carlyle won two straight sets 25-17 and 25-17 to win the championship. Our next home game is on Thursday, October 24th, when Manor comes to town.

The Senior Girls' Team also won its tournament this weekend in Wolseley.

The Intermediate Boys played 4 exhibition games this week against Estevan. Each team won 2.

On the last Thursday of the month (may change), students from the GF.Kells High School will be out in community for 2 hours after school (3:15-5:15). They will be volunteering their time to make our community a better, cleaner place. If you would like some extra help, we are here for you. Whether it's picking garbage, raking leaves, shoveling snow, or anything else, our students are willing to help! Please contact Miss Wiebe via email: [email protected] with your ideas for Day of Help! Next Day of Help: October, 24, 2013.

On Halloween evening, students will be going door to door to collect non-perishable food items for the Food Bank as part of the "We Scare Hunger" campaign. We will also be collecting at school during Advisory Group Time. Please send non-perishable food items to school with your children to help support this important cause.

The Grade 12's will be doing a "Spook Insurance" clean-up fundraiser this Halloween. They are raising money to help pay for their Graduation ceremonies.

The Student Leadership has an exciting October planned. They set up a harvest display in the front of the school, thanks to a generous donation of two scare crows from Dave and Anita Simmons. This month they are planning to carve pumpkins and they are planning an entire week of SPOOKTAKULAR activities!

They have also taken on the environment. There are compost bins in every classroom and every student activity that our school organizes will only use compostable products!
