Congratulations to the Rookie Girls' Grade 8 Volleyball Team and their coach, Mrs. Audra Reaves, for capturing 2nd place at the SEDAA Volleyball Playoffs. Also congratulations to the Rookie Girls' Grade 7 Volleyball Team, coached by Ms.

Congratulations to the Rookie Girls' Grade 8 Volleyball Team and their coach, Mrs. Audra Reaves, for capturing 2nd place at the SEDAA Volleyball Playoffs. Also congratulations to the Rookie Girls' Grade 7 Volleyball Team, coached by Ms. Regi Maher, for finishing 2nd in their pool and making it to the semi-finals. Awesome job girls!

Also, congratulations to the Junior Boys' Volleyball Team, coached by Mr. Johnson, for placing 2nd at the SEDAA Volleyball Playoffs.

Finally, congratulations to the Rookie Boys' and Intermediate Girls' Volleyball Teams for their strong showings at SEDAA playoffs. The future looks bright at GFK. The Rookie Boys were coached by Mrs. Beaver and the Intermediate Girls' Team was coached by Mr. Birch

A volleyball clinic hosted by the Brandon University Women's Volleyball team will be held on Dec. 8 and 9. More information can be found on the athletics page on our school's blog. You can also contact Mr. Birch.

On the weekend of Nov. 23, Arcola School will be hosting the 2A SHSAA Boys' Provincial Volleyball Championship. Games will also be held in the GFK gymnasium. Action starts up at 1:00 pm in both schools and concludes with the championship final at 5:00 pm in Arcola. Come out and see some incredible volleyball action at this provincial competition.

Report cards were sent home last week with information about Home Logix (parents and students can check on assignments and grades online 24/7) and Three Way Conferences (Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews). There is a conference sign-up sheet attached to the report card. Conferences will be held Wed. Nov. 28 and Thurs. Nov. 29 from 5:00 to 8:30 PM. There will be no classes Nov 30.

On Dec. 3, there will be a pancake breakfast for students and families. It will be pyjama day and the first of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

A staff group has been started on movember.com for anyone who is interested in making a donation to help support prostate cancer research.

The Grade 12 ELA Class is excited about the upcoming trip to the Globe Theatre in Regina on Tuesday, Dec. 11. They all have front row seats to see "The Wizard of Oz" performed live in The Globe's unique "theatre in the round" venue.

The Search Institute has identified the building blocks of healthy development that help young people grow up healthy, caring, and responsible. The Cougar Corner will list 2 of these 40 Developmental Assets each week for the next 20 weeks. One of these assets is a "Positive View of Personal Future." This means that the young person is optimistic about his/her personal future. Another asset is "Sense of Purpose." This means that the young person reports that his/her life has purpose.
