The School Community Council and GFK are participating in the Me to We "We Scare Hunger" campaign. We are hoping to have many students dress up this year and collect food bank items rather than treats. Congratulations to Tommy Cappo and Kirk Zacharias. On the weekend, Mr. Zacharias took the two runners to the Cross Country Provincial Meet at Echo Valley. In a field of 98 competitors, Kirk finished 80th and Tommy finished 79th. Kirk and Tommy ran the hilly 4 km course in great times of 19 minutes, 41 seconds and 19 minutes, 40 secondsrespectively. Way to go guys!
Mrs. Beaver and the Rookie Boys are practicing Mondays and Wednesdays after school.
Mr. Birch and the Intermediate girls continue to practice weekday evenings.
Ms. Maher, Mrs. Reaves, and the Rookie Girls continue to practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.
Mrs. Biberdorf and her Home Economics class would appreciate any used tape measures and scrap fabric for her classes. If you have any around your place and you would like to donate them to GFK please contact Mrs. Bieberdorf.
If you have any old tools in GOOD condition, the high school shop is looking for donations! Please contact Miss Wiebe if you would like to make a donation!
The school is looking for games to be used within the Workplace and Apprenticeship 10, 20, and 30 courses. They are to be used in outcomes within the courses to help develop spatial reasoning, numerical reasoning and logical reasoning. If you have any of the following games that your family has outgrown or is willing to donate to the school, we would really appreciate it. Just bring them in to the office! Games we are looking for are: Rubik's Cube, Blokus, chess, checkers, backgammon, Mastermind, Connect Four, Battleship, Cathedral World, Yahtzee, cribbage, Reverse. Thanks so much!
