On October 28th, 4 chaperones, 38 grade ten social studies students, and Mrs. Jones went on a field trip to the Legislative Buildings in Regina. We were able to view the assembly in progress and had a tour of the buildings afterwards. As well, they met with MLA and Speaker Mr. D'Autremont who answered some questions for them. The grade 10's learned a lot and had a very interesting day.

Halloween week was a busy one for the SLT. They decorated, carved pumpkins, bobbed for "apples" in a very untraditional way, painted faces, had a very sweet Fear Factor, did a Halloween Jumble, and ended the week with a costume contest. Categories and winners were: Scariest-Logan Delaney Lemieux; Funniest- Brayden Starr; Group Costume - Alice in Wonderland; Pair- Karlee Colpitts and Raine Smith; Most creative- Haylee Barta; Prettiest- Mercedes Sackman; Most Gory - Terran Baker. The SLT was impressed by the great participation and spirit of GFK students!

On the last Thursday of the month, students from the GF.Kells High School will be out in community for 2 hours after school (3:15-5:15). They will be volunteering their time to make our community a better, cleaner place. If you would like some extra help, we are here for you. Whether it's picking garbage, raking leaves, shoveling snow, or anything else, our students are willing to help! Please contact Miss Wiebe via email: [email protected] with your ideas for Day of Help! Next Day of Help: Nov. 21, 2013.

The school will be having a Remembrance Day Service for the students on Friday, Nov. 11, at 11:00 AM. There is no school on Monday, Nov. 11.

The male staff at the high school will be participating in the Movember moustache growing challenge to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research.

The Intermediate boys looked terrific in their green Precision Ag. Carlyle Cougar jerseys as they met the Manor Mustangs in an exhibition game last week. Action runs all day beginning at 9am and ending around 7pm. Best of luck to our Grade 9 and 10 boys. The Senior Girls' Volleyball Team played in the Conference Playoffs on the weekend right here in Carlyle. They finished 2nd and now advance to the next round. Way to go girls!
