The Rookie Boys Volleyball team have had a very busy season thus far.
With 16 boys on the team, Coach Beaver has scheduled extra games in order to get lots of playing time. This group is really starting to come together as a team both in spirit and support of each other but also on the court. Last weekend, we attended a tournament in Manor and brought home first place medals. The boys played outstanding! Hopefully this continues as we go into the final few weeks of our season. Our season will end November 8 at the playoff tournament. Thank you to all the parents who have taken their turns driving and coming out to cheer on their sons. Also, a big thank you to Katie and Nancy Matthewson for helping us out at practices and games. Your assistance is greatly appreciated by Mrs. Beaver!
Spirit Week was a big success with lots of crazy outfits worn by staff and students. Students are reminded to wear their Halloween costumes on Monday, October 31.
The male members of the high school staff will be helping to raise funds for prostate cancer research by participating in a Movember Moustache Growing Contest.
If anyone has taken pictures of GFK students at the recent golf tournaments, volleyball practices or games, or cross-country races could you please email them to Melissa Sweet at [email protected] so the pictures can be included in the 2011-2012 yearbook. The 2010/2011 yearbooks will be available in mid-November.
