GFK High School set to "scare away" hunger

This Halloween, the School Community Council and Gordon F. Kells High School will be taking part in the "We Scare Hunger" campaign.

This Halloween, the School Community Council and Gordon F. Kells High School will be taking part in the "We Scare Hunger" campaign. Free the Children-a popular charitable organization and educational partner-started the campaign as part of an effort to get youth engaged in hunger issues at the local level.

Students from the high school will be trick or treating for non-perishable food items from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Parents, family members and friends can also send non-perishable food items with students for collection at the school. Food collected from the drive will be transferred to the Carlyle and District Food Bank.

The school is asking for the support of 10 parent volunteers; one with a truck who can help the students to unload their donations as they trick-or-treat. Volunteers will be meeting in front of Gordon F. Kells High School at 5 p.m. To get involved in this worthy cause, please contact Joan Bue at 453-2393.
