Five charges for youth in high school firearm incident

Regina Police Service provided its latest update Monday of the charges laid in connection to the Sept. 23 incident at F.W. Johnson Collegiate.

REGINA - Five charges have been laid against a 13-year-old female in connection to Friday’s incident at F.W. Johnson Collegiate in Regina. 

The 13-year-old female, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:

  • Two counts of Assault with a Weapon;
  • Possession of a Weapon;
  • Use of a Firearm During Commission of Indictable Offence; and
  • Carry Concealed Weapon.

The youth is scheduled to appear in Provincial Youth Court on Sept. 26, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. in Regina.

According to Regina police: last Friday at approximately 9:15 a.m., police were notified of a youth at F.W. Johnson School with a firearm. The school went into lockdown and six area elementary schools were placed in Secure-the-Building protocol. No one was injured, and police eventually focused on a residence on the 1300 block of Fleet Street where two youths were arrested. Officers have located the firearm believed to have been used and have determined it to be an Airsoft firearm.
