On Oct. 29 at 11:35 a.m., the Redvers Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to what they were told was a kitchen fire in the bar in Antler.

They had two engines on scene within approximately 15 minutes to a fully involved kitchen fire. According to Fire Chief Brad Hutton, one crew attacked from the back door heading towards the kitchen and another crew started attacking from outside.

鈥淭he fire was gaining force quickly and had moved into the open bar area,鈥 Hutton explains.

Once the fire had spread to the bar area, Hutton said they knew with the water supply they had and the size and force of the fire, mixed together with the age and size of the building, that it was going to be a total loss. Because of this and for safety reasons as well, the department was forced to pull their crews out of the building.
