A fire that started just prior to midnight on June 29 destroyed the popular hamburger stand that had operated as Ogy’s just outside the White Bear Resort for the past 20 years plus.

The alarm was called in at 12:20 a.m., June 30, to the Carlyle and R.M. #63 Fire and Rescue who responded to the call.

RCMP and White Bear security were on the scene shortly after midnight, alerting the occupant who was sleeping on the premise. Also assisting to help combat the blaze, was Classic Water Hauling.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The White Bear Resort was experiencing power outages at the time and thunder and lightning were present as there was a severe storm watch in the surrounding area.

The fire looks to have started in the original building once known as James Bay Inn. No one was available to assess the total damage to the structure, which looks to be a total loss. No damage was caused to any of the outlying structures, which include an ice cream stand and mini-golf.

There was no report of any injuries. Carlyle and R.M. 63 Fire and Rescue were back in service at 3:11 a.m.
