Estevan Police Service arrests pair

The Estevan Police Service has arrested a pair of Florida residents for making death threats.

The Estevan Police Service has arrested a pair of Florida residents for making death threats.

EPS Chief Del Block issued a press release Friday afternoon noting that earlier in the day local officers took a pair of adults into custody for uttering the threats.

The case stems back to June 1, when the EPS received a report from the RCMP's International Border Enforcement Team (IBET) regarding a Florida vehicle that was seen in Estevan. The Sheriff's office of Panama City, Florida had flagged the vehicle and its occupants as being connected to the investigation of two missing children from the Sunshine State.

The EPS looked further into the matter and apprehended two children aged 9 and 12. The children were later turned over to the Ministry of Social Services who are making arrangements to return children to Florida. The two adults, who are related to the children, were not held in custody at the time.

Along with facing charges in Canada for the threats, the pair also have warrants for their arrest in Florida for concealing a minor contrary to a court order. They have been turned over to the RCMP and Canadian Border Services Agency for further action.
