ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service made an arrest after a man was seen attempting to enter vehicles in central Estevan, and then attempted to flee from police.
According to the police report for Nov. 30, the 35-year-old Estevan resident was arrested for obstructing a police officer and breaching his release conditions. He appeared in Weyburn Provincial Court and was remanded into custody for his next appearance on Dec. 5 at 9:30 a.m. in Estevan Provincial Court.
EPS members assisted in the escort of a truck transporting a large Christmas tree on Dec. 30. It was erected in the boulevard at the corner of King Street, 13th Avenue and Souris Avenue North.
A report came in of a suspicious male asking a female for her Snapchat name while she was walking. The matter is still under investigation.
Police received a report on Nov. 29 of a theft from a local business. Video surveillance was obtained. The matter is still under investigation.
A report of a gas and go came in from a local service station. Video surveillance will be obtained. That incident is still under investigation.
Police attended to a hit and run from the parking lot of a local business. Members attended and are still investigating and attempting to locate video from the store’s surveillance cameras.
Another hit and run resulted in damage to property. A light standard was knocked down and not reported by the driver. The matter is still under investigation.
Police continue to receive complaints of scams. Most recently an individual received a text message, asking for money for a service fee for postage. When banking information was entered, a large withdrawl was made from the account. The Estevan Police Service reminds individuals not to enter personal or banking information online if you are unsure of the source.
Police attended to a complaint Nov. 28 of a tractor trailer unit running near a residential area. The driver of the truck was located and the unit was moved. He was spoken to about the noise and idling bylaws.
Officers received a complaint of a male uttering threats to a telephone banking institution. Members spoke with the subject of the complaint and warned him of his actions.
Police responded to a complaint of damage to a vehicle around Souris Avenue North area. The matter is still under investigation.
