ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service handled a number of calls to start 2023.
Police received a report of a disturbance in the Trojan subdivision on Jan. 1. Members attended and spoke to the individual residing there, and learned people were playing video games with loud music. They were warned under the noise bylaw.
Police received a report of uttering threats. The victim is in Estevan and the individual making the threats was believed to be in another community. The matter is still under investigation.
The EPS conducted a traffic stop with a 22-year-old Estevan man Jan. 4 for driving while suspended. The patrol vehicle had an automatic licence plate reader and it indicated that the registered owner was a suspended driver. The motorist was issued a ticket under the Traffic Safety Act and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Police received a report Jan. 6 of a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle. Upon review, police determined it was a mischief to property incident. The matter is still under investigation.
Members attended to a disturbance at a residence in south Estevan. One of the individuals from the residence was moving out. Police remained on scene to keep the peace until the individual left.
Police received a report of a possible impaired driver getting into a vehicle at a local restaurant. Members located the vehicle still parked at the restaurant a short time later.
Police received a report Jan. 7 of criminal harassment by telephone. The matter is still under investigation.
Officers received a report of an individual slumped over the steering wheel of a motor vehicle on a northeast street. Police attended and the vehicle was not located.
A driving complaint regarding a vehicle failing to halt at a stop sign was received. A licence plate number was obtained and the matter is being looked into.
A report came in of a local business taking photos of customers for social media without asking permission. Advice was provided to the complainant on how to deal with the situation.
