Estevan man to have preliminary hearing for serious October collision

ESTEVAN - A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for the man charged for a vehicle-pedestrian collision south of Estevan in October.

Joseph Lee Dzuba’s case was heard in Estevan Provincial Court on Monday. It was adjourned for a preliminary hearing/to be spoken to in Estevan on March 16, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. He was held in custody after his appearance.

Dzuba, who was 45 at the time of the incident, is charged with one count each of operating a vehicle while over .08 causing bodily harm; one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm; one count of operation while prohibited; and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The Estevan RCMP says that on Oct. 29 at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers received a report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision in the Sunset subdivision adjacent to Boundary Dam Reservoir. Initial investigation determined the adult female pedestrian was walking from a residence towards Highway 47 when she was struck. The vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The pedestrian sustained what were described as being serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Dzuba was charged on Nov. 1

The charges have not been proven in court.
