ESTEVAN - An Estevan man is going to stand trial later this year on a number of charges, including uttering threats.
The EPS said on Monday that Kristofer Donald had been arrested and charged with multiple offences related to firearms and uttering threats, including threatening to kill a police officer, as well as fraud and failing to comply with a probation order.
None of the charges have been proven in court, and Donald has pleaded not guilty on all fronts. He called in for Thursday's appearance in Estevan Provincial Court, as he has been remanded in custody.
For four counts of uttering threats, two charges of violating a probation order and one of fraud, Donald will stand trial on Aug. 15 for what is expected to be a half-day trial.
As for the firearms charges and one other count of violating parole, the matter has been referred to the Court of Kings' Bench. It is scheduled to be discussed again in Estevan on Jan. 23.
In terms of the firearms infractions, Donald is facing 10 charges of possessing a firearm while prohibited from doing so, as well as single counts of carrying a concealed weapon, unlicensed possession of a prohibited device, occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm is in it, and unlicensed possession of a restricted firearm with readily-available ammunition.
