ESTERHAZY — The town of Esterhazy is hosting a municipal election candidate forum on Oct. 29.

Prior to the election forum will be a public meeting about the new digital water meters with members of Metercor in attendance to answer questions from the public.

“It’s a good night, it gives everybody an opportunity to see who everybody is,” said Mayor Grant Forster of the candidate forum. “There’s a lot of names on there that people may not be familiar with.”

Metercor will also hold two information sessions at the SN Boreen Centre that day at 3 and 6 pm, with the election forum to follow.

“It’s going to be a public information kind of thing,” Forster said of the sessions.

Elections will be held in Esterhazy for both mayor and council. Once nominations closed on Oct. 10, two candidates were vying for the mayor seat — current mayor Grant Forster, and current councillor Randy Bot. A total of nine people submitted nominations for council positions, including incumbents Vernon Petracek, Martin Pfeifer, and Maggie Rowland, as well as Bryant Campbell, William Gale, Apooray Joshi, Nichol L. Kripki, Dana Paidel, and Alan Petracek.
