A brazen afternoon robbery was among the many incidents handled recently by the members of the Estevan Police Service.On August 3, EPS members were notified that a residence was broken into on the 400 block of First Street. The front door of the home was forced open and once inside the culprits stole a number of items including a large quantity of alcohol, an HP laptop, a JVC surround sound system, an autographed Andy Fantuz Saskatchewan Roughriders jersey, a large quantity of cash and other household items. A basement suite in the home was also entered and numerous items were stolen from that location.The EPS is asking that anyone with information regarding this matter contact them at 634-4767 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.The break-in was part of a busy week for local officers.On Aug. 4, police attended to a two vehicle collision on the side of the city. One vehicle was towed away from the scene and an Estevan woman was charged with failing to yield the right of way. Police also arrested a 19-year-old from Estevan on outstanding warrants and four breaches of undertaking to a judge's charges. He will be held until his next court appearance. A 30-year-old Edmonton resident was arrested for public intoxication after he obstructed an officer in the execution of his duties. The man was released when he sobered up.On Aug. 6, police charged a 19-year-old Estevan man for driving without consideration after an incident in the city centre area. The man was also used a 30 day driving suspension after the novice driver was found to be consuming alcohol. A 43-year-old Estevan man faces a number of charges after an assault in the downtown area. The male, who will be in court in early September, was charged with assault, willful damage and breaching the conditions of his court ordered recognizance. A Saskatoon man was arrested for impaired care and control of a vehicle while over .08 after he was found passed out at the wheel of his vehicle in downtown Estevan. He will be in court later this month to face the charges. Police are also investigating an assault with a weapon that occurred outside a local drinking establishment. Charges are pending against a 21-year-old Estevan woman.A series of alcohol related incidents kept officers busy on the Aug. 6 to 7 night shift.A 23-year-old was arrested and charged for failure to provide a breath sample on a roadside screening device. Another 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer by assault. A 22-year-old man was picked up for outstanding warrants and was to be remanded until he appeared in court Monday. Two females and one males were also arrested and lodged overnight for public drunkenness.During Aug. 7 to 8 night shift, EPS officers arrested a 33-year-old after he was found passed out under a vehicle in the parking lot of a local drinking establishment. Also at the same establishment, a 21-year-old woman was arrested for assaulting a police officer.
