Eli Barsi, local country talent, will be hosting her fifth annual, Eli Barsi's Hometown Christmas on Dec. 6 and Dec. 7.
Barsi had always wanted to hold such an event, but it wasn't made possible until recently when she and her husband, John Cunningham, moved to Moosomin. Having previously found herself living throughout North America from Nashville, Tennessee, to Alberta.
The packed crowds each night over the past four years show how much her hometown community supports her and is proud to say she comes from Kennedy.
The Christmas special features songs from the season and much laughter as Barsi and Cunnginham perform together, bantering on-stage.
Ultimately the Hometown Christmas is about getting back to one's roots and appreciating where you came from. Thus, a portion of the money raised from the two-night event will be donated back locally.
This year Barsi is welcoming The Pelletier's (Sheila and Freddie) as well as locally grown talent Blake Berglund.
Freddie plays guitar and sings, while Sheila plays the rhythm guitar and also contributes to the vocals of their show. Living in Birch Hills, SK, they have been performing for over 12 years across Western Canada and the United States. Overall they've been a part of more than 550 shows and have created 20 CD's.
Berglund another Kennedy native will be performing at Eli Barsi's Hometown Christmas, which is very exciting as the performer is continually developing his career having won Roots Artist of the Year at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards in April.
All are excited to perform for the, always, packed house at the Kennedy Community Hall.
Doors to the event will open at 6:15 p.m. both nights and the performances will begin at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are available through contacting Juanita Armstrong at (306)538-2220. Advance tickets are $20, while those at the doors the night of the shows will be $25.
During intermission there will be treats available and a chance to purchase CD's from the artists. The most recently released from Barsi includes her 13th album, Portrait of a Cowgirl. Berglund's most recent release, Coyote, was released last year and includes "Get Off the Table, Mabel" and "Love's Never Made a Man a Living." While The Pelletier's have recently release, The Pelletier Family Sounds Like Chet Live Show.
