There will be a new mayor in Carlyle for the upcoming term.
Jennifer Sedor, who has been a councillor during the term that is coming to an end, was the lone candidate to file nomination papers for the mayor’s job for this fall’s civic election, and is to be acclaimed to the position.
Incumbent mayor Wayne Orsted did not file nomination papers for another term.
There will be an election for town councillor, as seven people have filed for six councillor seats. Incumbents John Brownlee and Kelly Lutz have filed papers for another term.
Also on the ballot will be Nicole Currie, Hugh Hislop, Scott Kirkness, Gordon Paulley and Jared Riddell.
The deadline to file a nomination paper was Wednesday at 4 p.m. Candidates then had 24 hours to withdraw their papers. (Any notices of withdrawl were not available at press time).Â
The civic election will be Nov. 9.Â
