Organizing displays, activities and the midway at this years Weyburn Fair have begun, with the dates of the Fair set for July 5, 6 and 7. The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce has begun accepting entries for the parade that will be held on Monday, July 5, at 10 a.m., with early interest already being shown in the event. We have already received a number of calls from businesses and organizations that are interested in submitting an entry into this years parade, said Jeff Richards, Chamber manager. From the amount of interest, and the fact that school will be out for summer, I think the parade will be a big one this year. The day of the parade, entries will begin to line up along Fifth Avenue North, entering from King Street, then launch from that location at 10:30 a.m.The parade travels east on Fifth Avenue, south on Fifth Street, west on First Avenue northeast, then heads to the downtown core of Weyburn by traveling south on Third Street, east on Railway Avenue and north on Second Street. Once the parade reaches Bison Avenue, entrants have the option of departing from the parade at the Exhibition Grounds, or continuing north to King Street and west on First Avenue to visit Tatagwa View.Several details of the Weyburn Fair and how the midway will be set up will not be known until the actual dates, as construction at Crescent Point Place and the Tom Zandee Sports Arena are ongoing. All the Fair exhibits for competition will be placed in the Curling Rink. The midway will be provided by Canuck Amusement, there will be the 4-H regional show, and a guaranteed 24 pony and chuckwagon races will be held.
