If you're looking for a way to shake off some of those ol' winter blues, the Redvers Arts Centre has just the thing on the menu.

On March 10th, at 7:30 p.m. the centre will be invaded by the musical comedy stylings of the Arrogant Worms.

The Toronto-based band, which has been touring the circuit for well over two-decades, is the originator of the hit tune, 'The Last Saskatchewan Pirate,' and features somewhat local talent in the form of bassist and singer Chris Patterson.

Patterson, who spent three years of his youth in the community of Arcola, shared some of his origin story.

"My mother was a United Church minister," Patterson explained. "She was posted to Arcola, and my dad was the unit band teacher for the region, so he taught in Arcola, Stoughton, Carlyle, and other places around."

While many a moon have passed since Patterson's days in Arcola, it wasn't his, or the Arrogant Worms, last visit to the region.

"We actually played a gig in Redvers about 15 years ago," Patterson said. "I guess it was time for us to come back again."

As to whether he would see any familiar faces hereabouts, Patterson was hopeful.

"You know, the last time we played Redvers, the weather was just brutal, really cold and a lot of snow, so lots of people who were supposed to come from Arcola and other places didn't make it," Patterson said. "So it would be nice to see some of the people I missed during my last swing around, I just hope the weather cooperates."

To the business of entertainment, Patterson was asked what the uninitiated could expect from the show.

"We like to think of ourselves as 'family friendly' musical comedy," Patterson said. "We put a lot of energy into the show, and we're all pretty pooped by the end of it."

"The band, because we work hard to please," Patterson said, "and the audience, because hopefully they've been laughing and having a good time."

Tickets for the Arrogant Worms show at the Redvers Arts Centre can be gotten at Murray's Store in downtown Redvers, or by calling 452-3370, 452-3855 or 452-3972.

Tickets are $25 in advance, and $30 at the door.
