Members of the Weyburn Dog Park Committee held an official sod-turning ceremony and kick-off to their fundraising campaign at the site of the future off-leash dog park on May 29.The 2.26-acre site south of First Avenue on Aylmer Street was donated by the City for the use of residents and their dogs. Now, the committee must raise funds to erect a fence around the site, which is estimated to cost about $25,000.The committee is selling homemade dog treats and raffle tickets for various dog-related goodies. Tickets can be purchased at Weyburn Cellular Plus. The committee is also seeking donations to go towards this community initiative.
