People began showing up at the pool, right at opening time, to inspect the new expansion, which includes spray park structures and a zero entry to the pool.

The Crescent Point Leisure Complex, previously Carlyle and District Leisure Complex, has finally opened. After much planning and a few setbacks the pool board has finally realized its goal of developing a zero entry into the pool.

The pool was opened on Wednesday, July 17, at 1 p.m. It drew many throughout the day and all were excited about the new zero entry expansion as well as the new spray park features within the expansion.

In the last couple of years the pool has faced difficulties as unplanned repairs were required last spring before they could begin on the zero entry expansion. The repairs not only set the pool back financially, but caused a late opening last year preventing them from raising money through admissions.

The junior Olympic size pool is now 18 years old and the surprise of major repairs, relining and resurfacing the pool, created an unneeded headache for the volunteer committee attempting to improve and expand the facility.

Money was, therefore, diverted last year away from the expansion and used on the essential repairs. Many companies and volunteers were able to work together, however, and quickly raised the necessary funds to perform the expansion this year.

The pool is now open for the season with admission ranging from $4 for children under six-years-old, to $5 for youth between seven and 12-years-old, and adults at $7, while a family pass for a day is $20. Evening rates start at 6 p.m. with adults able to enter at $4, youth at $3 and children under six-years-old are free, while an evening family pass is $15.

The pool also has season passes available for families or individuals, which will be discounted this year because of the late start to the swimming season.

No time will be wasted, however, and swimming lessons have already begun.

Though swimming lesson registration has already been held there are other ways to become involved with the pool including Parent and Tot Splash Time or Aquasize.

Tot Time will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon, subject to weather, and is free for children up to 5-years-old and their parents. Designed to introduce children to the love of swimming interested individuals are asked to contact Brigette Carley with Cornerstone Family and Youth for more information at (306)453-2666.

Aquasize will be held Monday through Friday between 12 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. Drop-ins are welcome for $5 a class or may purchase a five class $20 punch card.

The pool will also be hosting a free swim on Wednesday, Aug. 7 as a way to thank everyone for their donations and their patience in completing a project that had continually faced setbacks. Through hard work, determination, and a very giving community the pool board was able to see its vision come to fruition.
