Members of the Arcola Optimist Club were thrilled when Codie Prevost, a Saskatchewan Country music singer, approached them in holding another fundraiser for the theatre.
Last year in April the Arcola Optimists were pleased to have Prevost play in the MacMurray Theatre where he literally had people up from their seats dancing. Though no one took to dancing on the seats like Prevost suggested, as the fundraiser was being held to replace them, a good time was had by all in attendance.
Though the seats have now been replaced, the interior of the theatre revamped, and it is now wheelchair accessible, the Optimists are looking to finish the exterior of the theatre.
They are looking into better venting in the roof, as with larger crowds this past winter, the need developed. In addition to this the Optimists are looking to replace the face of the theatre, while keeping it as original as possible to maintain the heritage aspect of it.
Optimist member, Blake Brownridge, is excited to have Prevost back and was thrilled to say that the theatre this past winter saw an increase in attendance by a whopping 60 percent.
"We just want to thank everyone in the surrounding area for their support," Brownridge stated.
The last time Prevost took to the stage he brought with him, Todd Peters, and the two performed Prevost's original songs as well as covers of other popular music.
This time, however, Prevost plans on bringing his full band and has every intention of making the concert an enjoyable experience for all.
Prevost holds a number of awards including 24 Saskatchewan Country Music Awards (SCMA) and he has held the honour of being the SCMA "Entertainer of the Year" for the past six years. This is not only an accomplishment as an award, but he is also the only person to have been honoured with this title for six straight years in a row representing his level of performance.
Prevost is currently promoting his 4th studio album, "All Kinds of Crazy," and is excited to be able to perform in the MacMurray Theatre again as small town theatres bring with them the best sound as Prevost explained the last time he performed in Arcola.
The show on June 13 will begin at 8 p.m. with tickets costing $20 and all proceeds going towards the theatre. Tickets are available from Brownridge, Glen Lawson, or any other Optimist member in Arcola.
