For the second time in a row Carlyle Home Hardware has received the Proud of my Home Award and president and CEO of the company spoke fondly of the Carlyle branch, describing the store as one that represents Home Hardware's standards.

The Carlyle store received the award at Home Hardware's annual spring market on Monday, April 7 in St. Jacobs Ont. They were given the award last year which recognizes stores that demonstrate quality staff performance and customer service. The stores are also graded on interior and exterior presentation and their participation in dealer network initiatives. Carlyle was one of the 23 stores to be selected from the 1,100 branches across Canada for the award. President of the company, Paul Straus said theProud of my HomeAward recognizes Carlyle Home Hardware for their commitment and dedication to providing their community with expert advice, superior service and competitively priced quality products that are second to none.

"Carlyle Home Hardware truly embodies the values on which Home Hardware wasfounded 50 years ago- value, service and dependability. On behalf of the dealer-owners of close to 1,100 Home Hardware stores in communities across Canada, I would like to congratulate Carlyle Home Hardware on this achievement," Straus said.

Owner of the store Nancy Mathewson said she is proud of getting the award and credited her staff for much of their success.

"The staff works really hard, so it's nice to see everybody recognized for working so hard and keeping the store clean," she said.

She explained that one of the focal points for her store is to keep it clean and welcoming and also to help customers whenever they can. She said customers sometimes praise the store and said it's exciting when they do.

"This is the nicest, most organized, clean, well lit place I've ever come into," she said remembering some the remarks made by customers.

"Because it's in a small town people are excited because it has a big city feel, they come and are like 'wow I never expected this for a small town."

In addition to the awards ceremony the annual spring market in St. Jacobs serves as a venue for dealers and store employees from across Canada to gather and look at new products for the 2014 fall and winter season. Mathewson described her time in St. Jacobs as exciting and said going in with her peers and to be recognized as one of the top stores is a thrill.

"We go down to market twice a year and so we see a lot of the same people and its exciting when they find out you won. All your pictures are hung up everywhere for winning so lots of people see it and acknowledge it" she said

Nancy Mattewson purchased the store with her husband Gillis Mathewson in January 2005. At the time the store was located on Main Street and in 2011 they moved to its current location on Railway Avenue which allowed customers to have better accessibility and gave the owners a larger space to accommodate more merchandise. Founded in 1964, Home Hardware celebrate its 50th anniversary this year and with its continued growth the store now has annual retail sales of more than $5.4 billion.
