The students of CES were welcomed back to school this year with a BBQ put on by the CES School Community Council with help from the Carlyle Lions Club. The BBQ took place the evening before the first day of school.

The students of CES were welcomed back to school this year with a BBQ put on by the CES School Community Council with help from the Carlyle Lions Club. The BBQ took place the evening before the first day of school. It was a huge success with many families attending. Students were able to see their new classroom, meet their new teacher, and put their school supplies away, making the first day of school the next morning much more relaxed.

The annual pancake breakfast took place on September 11th and served 275 people. The smell of the sausage and pancakes was delightful as families and staff enjoyed a breakfast together to start the year out right.

Cross country running is winding up on Wednesday, October 3rd with students going to Carnduff for a meet. Girls and boys volleyball is in full swing, boys practicing after school on Mondays and Wednesdays, and girls practicing after school Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is also a regional competition for Pass Punt and Kick taking place at CES on October 11th, where the top competitors schools in our area will compete for a chance to go on to competition in Regina.

The annual Terry Fox Run took place Thursday afternoon, September 27th. Following a brief assembly to view a video about Terry and his mission, the students from Pre-Kindergarten to grade 6 walked and jogged around the border of the school playgrounds. The kids raised just over $7000.00 in donations this year, an excellent job.

From October 1st to the 12th, CES will be participating in the FCC Drive Away Hunger campaign. Students are asked to bring food goods to school to donate to Carlyle's food bank. Suggested items are canned meat or vegetables, flour and dry goods, infant formula and baby food.

Carlyle Elementary Community School will be hosting MCT's production of of The Wizard of OZ on October 22nd - 26th. team will arrive in town with the set, lights, and costumes, props, and makeup, everything it takes to put on a play.except the cast! The team will hold audition on Monday October 22th at 3:30pm, and will cast 50-60 students to perform in a production. The show is rehearsed all week and there will be a public performance on Friday October 26th in the evening.

Here at CES we have a great group of parents and community members who are involved in our many programs and activities. The time that you spend volunteering for our Lunch for Learning Program, after school programs, and the many other events that take place throughout the school year does not go unnoticed. We appreciate your generosity and would like you to know that you help our school be the best it can be! We look forward to seeing you lending a hand at CES for the 2012/2013 school year!
