On April 4th the Carlyle Lions Club hosted a Free Lunch for our staff and students in the School Gym. We were part of the Lions World Lunch Relay which was a 24-hour, International event that brought families and friends of Lions together in their local communities to share a meal. Thank you to the Lions Club for sponsoring lunch for us and including us in this event!

Grade 5 & 6 Badminton continues with practices being held on Mondays and Wednesdays after school. Carlyle will also be hosting a Pre-District Rookie Tournament on April 29th.

Grade 5 Yoga for Learning has started. Students meet in the gym at noon for a Yoga session and then eat their lunch together. Yoga for Learning is a great body awareness exercise to calm the mind and body by breathing deeply, focusing, stretching and balancing!

Girls Circle began this month and will be held Wednesdays until May 14th. This program is for any Grade 5 or 6 Girls who are interested in joining. The program encourages adolescent girls to; hold onto their voices and stay true to themselves, enhance judgement and critical-thinking skills for wise and healthy choices, counter trends towards self-doubt, and improve self-esteem.

Teachers have been busy getting report cards prepared for this term. Report Cards will go home on April 10th, and Student Led Conferences will be held the following week on April 15th & 16th. Please watch for notes coming home to see when your conference time is.

Another reminder to parents that our playgrounds can be very wet and muddy this time of year. While students are asked to stay away from the puddles, accidents do happen. Extra socks in their backpacks are a good idea, as well they should wear appropriate footwear to school.

If you or someone you know in the Carlyle area has a child who is turning 5 in 2014, please pick up a registration form and have your child added to the Kindergarten class list for the 2014-2015 school year. Pre K applications can also be picked up from the office.
