There was a little excitement at Carlyle Elementary School last Wednesday when machines digging to fix the sewer lines accidentally struck a water line. The school was without water for a couple of hours, and it was uncertain how long it would take to fix, so the decision was made to send kids home at lunch time. This was the first time in about eleven years that students were sent home from school for any reason. The staff did an excellent job of contacting all the parents to inform them of the situation, and the handful of students who couldn't be picked up early were taken to the high school and participated in gym class until the end of the day when buses took them all home. School was back on the following day, with bottled water provided for students until the boil water advisory is removed.

Student-led Conferences are the evenings of Wednesday, November 28th, and Thursday, November 29th. Students get to show their parents and guardians the work they've been doing, and what they've been learning! Remember that there is no school Friday, November 30th due to the student-led conferences.

The Scholastic Book Fair will take place on the same days as the student-led conferences (Wednesday, November 28th and Thursday, November 29th). The book fair will run during the daywitheach classroom having scheduled times to purchase books as well as during conference times to enable parents to accompany their children to check out the books. On Friday, November 30th the book fair will be open from 10:00am until 2:00 pm with all in stock merchandise reduced. Watch for the Book Fair newslettershowing thetime scheduleand thank you in advance for promoting reading and supporting this school fundraiser.
