An active member of the community for many years wants to be part of Carlyle town council for the upcoming term.
Nicole Currie is one of seven candidates for the Nov. 9 vote; six will be elected as councillors. She has been the chairperson of the Homespun Craft Show and Sale in recent years, and has been involved in other areas of the community.
鈥淚 am passionate about where I live,鈥 said Currie. 鈥淚鈥檓 proud of everything that this community has to offer. We have a great business sector that鈥檚 bursting with hard-working, driven visionaries.鈥
Carlyle also has an array of organizations with something to offer people of all ages.
鈥淚 know there are a lot of people who really care about the community, and I鈥檓 excited to be part of that,鈥 said Currie.
If she鈥檚 elected, Currie expects there would be a big learning curve so she can understand everything that goes into being a councillor.
Currie believes the community has done a good job of working together through organizations to promote the town. Currie has been involved with three big annual events in the town 鈥 Homespun, the Carlyle Fun Days and the Dickens Craft Show and Sale 鈥 and she believes all three bring a lot.
Currie also voiced her support for Jen Sedor, who was acclaimed as Carlyle鈥檚 mayor for the upcoming term.
鈥淚 am excited to have Jen Sedor as our new mayor. I know she is very passionate about our community. So I am excited to see everything that she鈥檚 going to bring to the table,鈥 said Currie.
As for the work of town council, Currie said she is pleased with the direction they have taken, since they have to consider so much before making a decision.
鈥淲hether we always understand the decisions or not at the beginning, I know that they have always wanted the best for the community,鈥 she said.聽
