Arriving at Carlyle Elementary School on Tuesday, Sept. 11 was different than most days. Children were asked to wake up early and bring their families in with them. The majority of students had been in school for a week already and it was time to celebrate the beginning of a new year. Although many schools are happy with normal back to school assemblies, Carlyle Elementary school enjoys getting together with parents, students and teachers to get to know each other. Although the families were already invited to a welcome back barbeque, the idea for a pancake breakfast went over extremely well. The teachers hopped on board to prepare and organize the food and were eager to serve the hungry families. And everyone seemed to be extremely happy considering the early rise.A handful of students arrived in their pajamas to keep the spirit of breakfast alive. The food included pancakes and sausages, along with a juice box. Several kids came back for seconds, exclaiming how delicious it all was. All and all it was a great success, and the school will continue to plan family orientated events in the future.
