Bradys on their self-isolation

Marilyn & Larry Brady Carlyle, SK

Larry and I were living in Arizona for the winter while news began to be filled with the Coronavirus! Like most we weren’t too concerned in the beginning. Our park is very social with meals, dances mahjong etc.

Gradually things began to change. By the second week in March our family was anxious for us to head home. We needed to wait until our travel partners had safely seen that their elderly father was safely on a flight home. We worried that the border crossing would shut down before we made our 30-hour drive pulling a camper.

Once we were on our way we ate and slept in the camper, only stopping for gas using a card at the pumps. No interaction with the public.

Once we arrived back at our farm we were relieved. We’re lucky that we can easily self-isolate while still able to be outdoors. We haven’t left the farm or visited family. Groceries are delivered. I regret not being able to visit my 91-year-old mother, but only have one more week left of isolation.

Our world has certainly changed, but we so grateful to be back to our community. Feels like a safe place to be.
