聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Running five kilometers has never been more fun. Arcola School is hosting a ColorDash on Saturday, May 30, for friends and families to enjoy as a fundraiser for the Student Representative Council (SRC).
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Laurie James and Cathy Burton received information about this particular colour run and decided it would be a great fundraiser for the community.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淐athy has done these runs before, so when we received the information in the mail we decided it would be a great way for SRC to raise money for supplies for students,鈥� James stated.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a blast!鈥� Burton, who has participated in similar events in Saskatoon and Regina, added. 鈥淭he paint is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, it鈥檚 actually a cornstarch base. Every kilometer you get to a station with a handful of people with these boxes of paint who huck it at you.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 James and Burton are excited for the day as the event allows people to register as individuals, groups, and families as well.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 ColorDash is self described as being 鈥渁 family friendly, untimed 5K, who welcomes all shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t鈥檚 a lot of fun and it鈥檚 open to anybody at any age,鈥� Burton said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a fun thing and the ones I鈥檝e been to have people who dress up. I鈥檝e made tutus for people and I鈥檝e seen other people who show up wearing wedding dresses they found at value village.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淵ou do get a white t-shirt when you sign up so by the end you鈥檙e covered by paint.鈥�
Registration is currently open online by visiting and selecting 鈥淟ocations,鈥� then 鈥淢ore Locations,鈥� and finally 鈥�5/30/15 Arcola, Saskatchewan.鈥�
The packet pick-up will begin at 8 a.m., while the run will start at 10 a.m. Cost to participate is $40 for an individual, $35 per team member (minimum of four and maximum of 16 on a team), and $85 for a family of three with the option of additional family members being added at $15 each with a maximum of six.
Organizers are also looking for approximately 30 volunteers to help ensure it is a successful event. If interested in volunteering registration is also available online.
