Arcola Daycare, a non-profit organization in Arcola, is getting ready for their main fundraiser of the year. "Spring Fling" will be held on Saturday, April 9th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Prairie Place in Arcola. The day will be a fun-filled event with a carnival theme including a bouncy castle, fish pond, duck pond, face painting and much more. Carnival food will be available including caramel apples, popcorn, hot dogs and drinks, to name a few. Admission will be by donation with the event sure to be a hit with children of all ages.

Director Hilarie Jochems, who has been working at the daycare since May of 2010, is excited about this fundraiser. "Spring Fling is basically the main fundraiser that we are doing. We thought it would be a really great event to get families out together and do something as a family" said Jochems when asked about the event. Hilarie also explained that one of the fundraisers at the event will be an art auction. "Children from the daycare and the playschool will be doing paintings on canvases that will go up for auction. The art pieces will be available for family and friends to bid on throughout the day."

While looking at potential fundraisers, the daycare wanted to stay true to their goals and priorities. The carnival-based event was decided upon due to its ability to stay true to the daycare's philosophy with a focus on the children and an event where parents can bring their children, interact and have fun with them.

The daycare opened in 2008 and operates 19 spots in total accepting children aged six weeks to 12 years. The daycare, open 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., operates Monday to Friday and services Arcola, Kisbey, Carlyle and area. Director Hilarie Jochems has eight years of childcare experience with schooling in Early Childhood Education. In addition to Hilarie, the daycare has two full-time employees, three casual employees and a student working within the centre.
