On Oct. 5, the board members of the Alida Housing Authority met for a meeting at the Golden Gate Centre to make some decisions before the end of the year. It was the first meeting that they had held since this COVID pandemic came into effect – they kept a safe distance and some also wore masks. All was discussed and went off without any problems. Three members will be renewing their applications for board members.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving on the past weekend whether you held your special day on Sunday or on Monday. Hopefully it was a great day for you and your family and friends.

The weather remains excellent – warm and pleasant to enjoy – except for a couple of days when the wind was a little on the strong side. This proved to be a little dangerous for anyone who was trying to clean up their fields. There were a few brush fires that got away on the burners but fortunate for them the fire trucks and fighters and water trucks came to their rescue, along with the farm tractors. Please remember to be extra careful out there – that grass and brush are really dry.

I understand that Alida has increased their population recently as some of the empty homes have new occupants now. I do wish to welcome any new faces into our little town – it’s so nice to see that Alida can still grow. Welcome folks.

Sorry that I haven’t had the chance to meet all of you yet (you know who you are) and hopefully I can actually put a name to the faces soon. Hope you enjoy our little town.

Please remember folks keep me posted whenever you have news – simply contact me anytime on the happenings that are going on in and around Alida as well as within your own family circle, either call me at 306-443-2496 or text 306-485-8561 or e-mail [email protected]. I will see that your news gets into a paper. I do appreciate all your input as it does help keep this column interesting. Until next time, keep smiling, think positive, drive safely and take care
