Welcome to October folks – it may be a very different month this year compared to other past Octobers.
The biggest change right now around here is that the Alida Rink still remains the same – it never changed its décor and there will be no spooks and goblins coming to visit. However, I do hope that a few little spooks, goblins, ghosts, witches or whatever will still be making their annual trip around the town and/or area, in a safe way of course.
The Alida community sends their best wishes for a speedy get well to Linda Akins – miss seeing you at the post office Linda, even if Lorna is doing an excellent job.
This year in October brings on election time – whether it’s for local government (municipal) or provincial. Whichever it is in your area, just make sure that you do your duty and your best to vote for whomever you wish. It’s your decision only; just vote. Once again do it safely.
I do believe that most of the fall field work has been completed (or will be shortly). There is a lot of burning happening because of the weeds and trash left on the fields. However, if you are burning, please be extra careful as it is so dry out there, so make sure you are prepared for whatever should, but hopefully does not happen. Make sure there is a good fireguard around the area which you are burning, and/or maybe you’ll also have the cultivator and tractor ready to go nearby if it should be needed. One can never be too careful.
Say, did you notice the moon on Oct. 3? It was so beautiful – big, bright and red. Granddaughter was surely impressed by the sight, and went out to snap a picture. I’m not sure if this is what one calls a Harvest Moon – but it was definitely impressive and seemed to be on fire.
This is another long weekend – hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. Â
