Linda Akins, our faithful postmistress, is back at the helm again at the post office. Great to see you back and hopefully you’ll continue on with a healthy recovery.
Not only is Linda holding down her job with her business but she has also just proven that she has a lucky streak. On Sept. 1, Linda was the lucky winner of a barbecue package from the Redvers Fire Department fundraiser – she won a barbeque, cooler, food for 10 and lawn chairs. Then on Sept. 2, she was lucky once again when she won a Redken hair package from T’s Styles for Miles (Tristen Boutin) – Congratulations Linda.
Harvest was moving right along until Sept. 2, when the weatherman decided that it was time for a break and forecasted a day of light showers – just enough to toughen up the grain and make things damp, but not enough to do much good as far as making things grow. Oh well, guess we can’t have everything go the way we want it to, just have to grin and bear it. Hopefully the fellas will be able to get back into the field when things dry up and can continue to move along with harvesting. The forecast does look good for the next few days. So, good luck guys!
Not much news for this week as the early deadline does throw a loop into the mix. Oh well it’ll be back to normal shortly. Now that school began on Sept. 8, maybe things will get back to somewhat normal. Good luck staff and students as you deal with the new guide lines and rules for COVID-19 in schools.
Do hope all goes well and that we will finally be able to say we are on top of things.
I had a surprising phone call the other evening from a long-time neighbour’s (of my parents) son informing me that he had an old school reader from Annandale School (a country school which my mother had attended, and believe it or not I had too) which Mom had signed her name while she was in Grade 5. Now I am excited and can hardly wait to receive it and have a look at it. Thanks Dennis – appreciate it.
Hopefully you all had a great Labour Day long weekend.
