People from throughout the province are converging on Regina for this afternoon's rally.

The convoy from Estevan left the city's east industrial area just after 7 a.m. Thursday morning, and arrived in the Queen City at around 10:30 a.m. The convoy boasted a long line of semi-trailer units, pickup trucks and other vehicles.

Participants from other parts of the province have been travelling to Regina for this afternoon's rally. Many of them met up in Weyburn.

The rally is slated to begin at the Queensbury Downs site at 1:30 p.m. It calls for more pipelines to be built, and for the carbon tax to be repealed.

The event is happening three days after the federal government imposed a carbon tax on Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick.

Many of those involved in the rally are from the energy sector, but there are also a lot of farmers and other industries participating. Estevan-area farmer Jason LeBlanc, who is among the organizers of the rally, has attracted thousands of views through Facebook live videos he has posted.

The Mercury will have more details on this story later today.
