ASSINIBOIA - The 麻豆视频land Co-op Centre Arena construction is well underway, with all the structural steel erected and the grade beam at 95 per cent complete. Most of the utilities including water, sewer, and power have been roughed in.
Currently the masons are working on completing all the masonry walls throughout the facility and hope to compete this work by the end of October.
The hollow core second floor structure will begin being craned in later this month, providing a roof over the first floor of the facility. The cladding and insulating of the exterior walls and roof areas should be completed by the end of November to allow for trades to work throughout the winter inside the building.
The general contractors leading the project are Wright Construction out of Saskatoon. They have built many recreational facilities, including most recently, Merlis Belshur Place at the University of Saskatchewan, and the Spark Centre and Legacy Park school in Weyburn.
If everything continues to go smoothly the facility will be completed by late summer 2022.
鈥淎fter working on the project for over 10 years it is nice to finally see the building taking shape in front of our eyes. The Assiniboia Civic Improvement Association is planning the Sportsman Supper and Auction in April of 2022 and the Spring Fever Lottery will be starting up in the next few months,鈥 said Curtis Nelson, president of the Civic Improvement Association.
鈥淒uring construction extra costs have arisen and the Assiniboia Civic Improvement Association is hopeful with a successful lottery and sportsman supper and further donations from the area these extra costs will be accounted for.鈥
The new complex will replace 础蝉蝉颈苍颈产辞颈补鈥檚 existing ice arena built in 1956. The new multi-use facility will include a teen centre, full-size ice rink, walking track, multi-use sport and recreation room, a canteen, dressing rooms and a Lakota First Nation Education and Interpretive Centre.
