SaskPower has released details on the power failure that struck much of Estevan and some surrounding communities earlier today.
The power went out at just after 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning. According to Joel Cherry, a spokesperson with SaskPower, about 5,000 customers were affected.
Most had power restored by 11 a.m., and all were back online by noon. The issue appears to have been caused by a bird coming into contact with a transformer at the substation, causing the line to trip off.
A tweet from SaskPower indicated the Roche Percee and North Portal areas were also impacted.
